The CCL Standard: By the Numbers -- San Francisco Seagulls
The San Francisco Seagulls joined the California Collegiate League last season, bringing fresh Bay Area talent and a development-first approach to the CCL North.
Founded in 2003 by Marc Caviglia and Doug Price, the San Francisco Seagulls were built on a vision of providing collegiate athletes with a competitive summer environment focused on development, exposure, and high-level baseball in the Bay Area.
Before joining the California Collegiate League, the Seagulls competed in other summer collegiate circuits and operated as one of the Bay Area's most established independent summer programs. During that time, the organization captured multiple league championships and earned national recognition among summer collegiate teams.
Over the years, the Seagulls built a reputation for developing players, maintaining strong relationships with college programs, and creating opportunities for athletes to continue their growth during the summer season.
The transition into the CCL represented a natural next step for the program. Joining one of the premier summer collegiate leagues in the West elevated the level of competition while aligning the Seagulls with organizations that share a commitment to player development and the wood-bat summer experience.
Since entering the CCL, the Seagulls have focused on establishing a competitive identity while integrating into the league's structure. The roster is composed of NCAA collegiate players from programs across the country, providing athletes with valuable wood-bat experience and exposure against high-level competition throughout the summer.
The organization places a strong emphasis on preparation, professionalism, and player growth — core principles that mirror the developmental mission of the California Collegiate League. As one of the league's newest members, the Seagulls continue building continuity within their roster and coaching staff while laying the groundwork for long-term success within the North Division.
Rooted in San Francisco's baseball community, the Seagulls prioritize local engagement, host-family support, and youth development throughout the Bay Area.
A cornerstone of the organization is the Seagulls Baseball Academy, which provides training and competitive opportunities for young athletes ranging from youth to high school levels. The academy has grown into a year-round development platform that emphasizes fundamentals, baseball IQ, and preparation for the next level of the game.
By connecting the collegiate summer team with its youth and high school development programs, the Seagulls have created a unique pathway that inspires the next generation of players. Young athletes in the academy regularly interact with the collegiate team, strengthening the program's culture and building deeper ties within the Bay Area baseball community.
This integrated model reflects the organization's broader mission — growing the game at every level while creating opportunities for athletes to develop both on and off the field.
With more than two decades of history, the San Francisco Seagulls continue building a program centered on competition, development, and community impact within the California Collegiate League.
