Blues Take Series with 12-3 Blowout; Ventura Opens CCL Play with DH Sweep

June 5, 2016 San Luis Obispo, CA The San Luis Obispo Blues amassed 16 hits in eight at bats to overwhelm the Walnut Creek Crawdads today at Sinsheimer Park. Led by Wyatt Hogan's (Hendrix College) four hits and four RBI, the Blues scored six times in the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 deadlock, then added three more runs in the sixth inning to put the game away 12-3. Five Blues hitters had multiple hits on the day. See the boxscore/recap here. Also today: Ventura, CA The Ventura Halos swept a doubleheader from the Long Beach Legends in the first league contests for both teams at Ventura College today, winning the first game 2-1 and the second 8-2. Long Beach threatened in their last at bat, loading the bases on three walks, but Caden Maher (N. Colorado), the fifth Halos' pitcher of the game, got the final out on a grounder to second to pick up the save. See the Game 1 boxscore/recap here. In the second game, the Halos' offense came alive with 13 hits, led by Dustin Demeter's three RBI. Dylan Francis pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits to pick up the win. Healdsburg, CA The Healdsburg Prune Packers finished off a three-game sweep of the Auburn Wildcats in nonleague action today scoring four times in their last four at bats to erase a 3-0 deficit to claim a 4-3 victory. See the boxscore/recap here. Thousand Oaks, CA The Conejo Oaks beat the Academy Barons 14-2 today in the first CCL game for each team. Stats for the game were not available at post time. Palm Springs, CA Despite scoring five runs in the final four innings the SoCal Catch came up short against the Palm Springs Power losing 9-6 in a nonleague contest in Palm Springs. Austin Bull (Grand Canyon) and Zach Davis (UAB) each had two hits to lead the Catch. See the boxscore/recap here.
