Trey Lipscomb (Tennessee) had four hits, including a double and a run driven in, Daniel Jung (Notre Dame) doubled and had two RBI, and Ryan Sublette (Texas Tech) faced the minimum three batters in the last two innings, striking out three, to lead the Orange County Riptide to a 4-3 win tonight over the Academy Barons at the MLB Youth Academy. Lipscomb’s fourth hit of the game came in a three-run eighth inning for the Riptide that erased the Barons 3-1 lead. His single drove in Dylan Rock (UT San Antonio), who had led off the inning and reached base safely after being hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a double by Andre Antone (UC Irvine). Jung, batting right after Lipscomb in the order, drove in Antone with the tying run and, after a walk to the next batter, Carson Matthews (BYU) hit a run-producing groundout that scored Lipscomb with what proved to be the winning run. Sublette entered the game to pitch for Orange County right after they took the lead and, after allowing a leadoff single to Kendall Ewell (Eastern Kentucky) and after Ewell was caught trying to steal second base, Sublette struck out the next two batters to end the eighth inning and retired the side in order with one more strikeout in the ninth to close out the win. Devin Sutorius (Biola) started on the mound tonight for the Riptide and allowed two runs on four hits, including RBI-doubles by Christian Lucio (Eastern Kentucky) and Ewell, while striking out five over five innings of work. Sean Higgins (Columbia) relieved Sutorius to start the sixth inning and struck out two while retiring the side in order, and Andrew Davis and Tanner King pitched the seventh when Noel Soto (Long Beach CC) drove in the Barons’ third run with an RBI-single. Larry Brabino III (Southern) was the starting pitcher for the Academy and threw four shutout innings, allowing three hits, before turning the pitching duties over to AJ Stinson (Lawson State JC) who threw a scoreless fifth inning, allowed the Riptide’s first run in the sixth when Jung hit a sacrifice fly, pitched a scoreless seventh and was charged with all three Riptide runs in the eighth. Yuji Sakane (East LA JC) relieved Stinson after Jung’s double in the eighth and, after walking the first batter he faced, got the groundout that drove in Lipscomb. Sean Paquet (LMU) came in to relieve Sakane after the Riptide had taken the lead and retired the five batters he faced in order, two by strikeout, to finish the game for the Barons.

Lorenzo Debrecht (Sierra JC) went four-for-four with a solo home run, two RBI and three runs scored, Zach Bushling went three-for-three with a double and an RBI, and Tanner O’Tremba (Texas Tech) hit a two-run home run to lead the Lincoln Potters to a 13-4 win over the Solano Mudcats tonight at McBean Stadium. Debrecht’s home run in the second inning was the first of 15 hits the Potters would collect tonight, including hits by nine different players. The home run tied the score for Lincoln after Solano scored on an error in the top half of the inning. The Mudcats took the lead back in the third inning when Justin Banks (Coppin State) hit an RBI-triple and scored on a sacrifice fly and that lead lasted an inning and a half until Lincoln blew the game open by scoring three times in the fourth inning, four times in the fifth, three times in the sixth when O’Tremba hit his home run, and twice more in the seventh. Jakob Frederick (San Joaquin JC) was the starting pitcher for the Potters who benefitted from the mid-game run support, earning the win with six innings of work in which he allowed three runs on six hits while striking out three. Isaiah Rodriguez (William Jessup) pitched the last three innings in relief of Frederick and allowed four hits and one run when Banks led off the eighth inning with a single and eventually scored on a error with Solano’s fourth run. Brandon Chalk was the starting pitcher for Solano and suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three over four innings.

Healdsburg

Cole Stillwell (Texas Tech) hit a three-run home in the sixth inning that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead, and Jackson Cunningham (Northridge) stranded the bases loaded for the final two outs in the ninth inning to lead the Healdsburg Prune Packers to a 4-3 win over the San Francisco Seals tonight at Recreation Park. Stillwell’s home run came with two outs in the sixth inning after two batters reached base safely on a walk and a hit batter. It was only the third of four hits of the game for Healdsburg, but the walk and the hit batter that set up the game changing hit were the part of the nine free passes the Packers got in the game. The combination of a hit and a walk paid dividends earlier in the game for both teams. Healdsburg scored their first run when Cam Blake (Texas A&M) singled to leadoff the fourth inning, advanced to second when the next batter walked, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly, and both runners that scored for San Francisco reached via walks, the first scoring in the first inning on a Robert Lujan (Cal St East Bay) single, and Lujan scoring in the fourth on a bases loaded walk. Both early Seals’ runs were surrendered by Packers starting pitcher Morgan White (Portland) who, between Lujan’s hit and Lujan’s walk, retired ten straight San Francisco batters and finished with five strikeouts over five innings of work. Hunter Mayo (Houston) started the sixth inning in relief of White and retired the Seals in order in both the sixth and seventh as Healdsburg took the lead. Cunningham entered the game in the eighth and allowed a leadoff single by Hayden Craig (Southwestern) and an RBI-single by Michael Peter (Central Washington) that got the Seals within one, and then weathered a stressful ninth. San Francisco got their first two batters on base to start the ninth inning on consecutive singles and, after Cunningham struck out one, another batter reached on an error to load the bases. Cunningham induced a groundball that forced the potential tying run out at the plate for the first out and then got another groundball out to close out the win. Drew Stahl started on the mound in this game for San Francisco, allowing one run on one hit over four and a third innings before Justin Culligan relieved him and suffered the loss by allowing Stillwell’s home run.

Tevin Tucker (West Virginia) hit a two-run home run, Nick Bellafronto (Stanford) tripled and hit a two-run home run and Zach Presno (Fresno St) hit a solo home to lead the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 12-9 lead over the Arroyo Seco Saints tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium in a game that was suspended due to light restriction curfew. The three home runs highlighted a 15-hit offensive night for Santa Barbara, one that saw eight of the nine batters in the Foresters lineup collect hits, six of them having multiple-hit games. Still, it wasn’t until the seventh inning when Presno’s home run with one out ignited a six-run rally, did the Foresters have the lead in the game. Arroyo Seco had jumped out front early, scoring four times in their first at bat when Drew Cowley (Cal Poly Pomona) hit a two-run double, Andy Garriola (Old Dominion) drove Cowley in with a double and a sacrifice fly plated another, and, after Tucker’s home run plated two for the Foresters, the Saints scored three more in the third with Garriola and Pete Derkay (Tennessee) each hitting RBI-doubles. The slugfest continued when Ross Cadena (Wichita St) doubled and scored in the fourth inning on a Blake Hall (Oral Roberts) single, when Bellafronto hit his home run in the fifth for Santa Barbara, and when Evan Russell (Tennessee) hit a two-run single for the Saints in the fifth. Santa Barbara added one run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth then plated six in the seventh on five hits, including Cadena’s third hit and second double of the game. The game was suspended after the Saints were retired in the seventh and will be resumed prior to the previously scheduled meeting between the two teams July 17.

Derek True (Cal Poly) and Mitchell Scott (Cal) combined to strikeout eight of the first nine batters they faced, Reuben Mercado (San Jose St) hit a two-out RBI-single in the seventh inning, Taison Corio (Delta JC) hit a two-out RBI-single in the eighth and Evan Ingram (Hendrix) came into the game with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the ninth inning and got the final two outs on two pitches to lead the San Luis Obispo Blues to a 2-1 win over the Conejo Oaks today at Sinsheimer Park. True and Scott led a staff of six pitchers who held the Oaks to their one run on five hits. True started the game for San Luis and allowed only a bunt single to Will Picketts (Cal St. Bakersfield) with two outs in the second inning. Scott relieved True to start the third inning and after striking out the side, surrendered what would be Conejo’s only run of the game in the fourth when Kevin Graham (Ole Miss) doubled with one out and Nico Lima (Oxnard JC) singled hm in to give the Oaks the lead 1-0. Travis Weston started on the mound for Conejo and outpaced True and Scott, retiring 13 of the 17 batters he faced, at one point retiring ten in a row, and allowed only two singles while striking out four over five innings. Chris Torres (Moorpark JC) relieved Weston and, after retiring the side in order in the sixth inning, surrendered a leadoff walk to Corio in the seventh. Corio then stole second base and advanced to third on an error and, after Torres was lifted for Kyle Nicol (Cal Poly), Mercado drove Corio in with a single to tie the game. Torres retired the last batter he faced in the seventh to avoid further damage and got two quick outs to start the eighth inning before Julian Bury (Columbia) reached base on a bunt single. John Vergara (UC Irvine) relieved Torres and, after issuing a walk that advanced Bury to second base, surrender Corio’s hit that proved to be the game winner. Pierson Ohl (Grand Canyon) picked up where True and Scott left off and held the Oaks scoreless over three innings, retiring nine of ten with two strikeouts before turning the pitching duties over to Kai Janowicz (UC Davis) who pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Dylan Beavers (Cal), who started the ninth with a strikeout but allowed two singles and a walk that loaded the bases with one out for the Oaks. That’s when Ingram entered the game. Ingram closed out the win by inducing a groundball double-play on his second pitch thrown.

Today’s game started out as a slugfest with Solano scoring three times in the their first at bat on an RBI-double by Angelo Zorn (Occidental), a run-scoring single by Christian Harkey (Savannah St) and a sacrifice fly, and Healdsburg followed suit, scoring three times on RBI-doubles by McDonald and Brodnansky and a run-scoring single by Hill. Fuller started on the mound for Santa Barbara and struck out two over three innings of work and surrender the Riptide’s run in the second inning when Connor Aoki (Binghamtom) hit a leadoff single, advanced to third on two wild pitches and scored on a Michael Peabody (UC Irvine) single. Noel Soto (Long Beach CC) and Noah Owen each struck out five batters, Soto in a five-inning start and Owen in two innings of relief, to lead the Academy Barons to a 6-3 win over the Arroyo Seco Saints tonight at the MLB Youth Academy. Spotted to a 2-0 lead after Logan Pollack (Michigan) hit a two-out two-run single in the first inning, Soto retired the next six batters in a row, three via strikeout and, after Basiel Williams Jr. (Jones JC) drove in the third Barons run in the third, Soto retired three straight after issuing a leadoff walk to start the fourth. In their half of the inning, the Barons extended their lead when Allante Hall hit an RBI-single to make the score 4-0. Only the fifth inning was a blemish on Soto’s outing as David Reyna (Ark-Monticello) led off with a triple and scored on a Thomas McCarthy (USF) single, but Soto finished the inning, and his outing, strong by striking out the next batter and retiring McCarthy on the bases at the front end of an inning-ending double play. Owen relieved Soto to start the sixth inning and retired the side in order, striking out two, and in the seventh struck out three more, although he did surrender a leadoff solo home run to Andy Garriola (Old Dominion) that made the score 4-2. The Barons offense answered right back, however, scoring twice in their half of the seventh on Williams’ second RBI-single of the game and an error, and then Yuji Sakane (East LA JC) and David Appleby (Michigan) combined to hold the Saints to one unearned run over the last two innings to secure the win. Grant Young (USF) started on the mound for Arroyo Seco and suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out one over four innings. The San Luis Obispo Blues rallied for three runs in third inning, taking advantage of two hit batters, and scored twice in the fifth, taking advantage of another hit batter and a walk to beat the Orange County Riptide 5-4 tonight at Sinsheimer Park. Four of the five batters who reached base in those innings without the benefit of hit ended up scoring, and the fifth was thrown out at the plate. The first rally happened with the Blues trailing 2-0 after the Riptide scored once in the first inning when Carson Matthews (BYU) walked to lead off the game, stole two bases and scored on a Dylan Rock (UTSA) single, and once in the second inning on three consecutive singles by Connor Aoki (Binghamton), Daniel Jung (Notre Dame) and Antonio Cruz (Rice) before an out was recorded. Gabe Constantine (Rio Grande Vly) who started on the mound for San Luis and surrendered both early runs, escaped further damage in the second inning by striking out one and getting two groundball outs, and then retired the side in order in the third while waiting for some run support. The support came in the Blues’ next at bat when the first two batters reached base via a hit batter and a single. Duke Pahukoa (UNLV) then hit an RBI-single to drive in the Blues first run, the second hit batter of the inning loaded the bases and then two sacrifice flies gave San Luis a 3-2 lead. The Blues padded their lead in the fifth inning when the first two batters of the inning reached base via a walk and a hit batter and, after a passed ball advanced the runners to second and third, both would score, the first on an RBI-single by Ryan Cole (Notre Dame) and the second as part of a first-and-third double steal. Orange County scored two times in the sixth inning to get within one, plating once on an error and once on a two-out RBI-single by Chad Crosbie (Miami). Brett Super (Pitzer College), who relieved Constantine to start the fourth inning, struck out the final batter of the sixth to limit the Riptide rally and finished with five strikeouts in three innings, before turning the pitching duties over to Evan Ingram (Hendrix) who pitched around a double in the seventh by striking out the side, and then to Noah Bullard (Ventura JC) who pitched around a double in the eighth to retire six of the seven batters he faced to close out the Blues win. Nick Jones (Georgia Southern) started on the mound for Orange County and suffered the loss, allowing three runs on two hits, while striking out three and allowing five walks in two and a third innings. Wesley Scott (Vanderbilt) relieved Jones and struck out four over two and two-thirds innings while Sean Higgins (Columbia) struck out three over three scoreless innings.

He retired the first seven batters he faced, four via strikeouts, and was given three runs of support when the Foresters scored once in their first at bat on three consecutive two-singles by Quentin Selma (Cal), Nick Bellafronto (Stanford) and Jacob Katzfey (Wichita State), and twice in the second inning on a walk, an error and singles by Tommy Holguin (SBCC) and Ryan Cash (Oral Roberts), all with one out. JP Massey (Minnesota), who started on the mound for the Academy and struck out the leadoff batter in the second, limited the damage in the inning by striking out the next two batters after Cash’s hit. Trevor Sutt (Long Beach JC) relieved Massey to start the third inning and, after striking out the side in the third and pitching out of a jam in the fourth, Sutt surrendered three runs in the fifth on four hits, including Katzfey’s second run-scoring single of the game which gave Santa Barbara a 6-3 lead. Healdsburg, CA

A week away from CCL play didn’t seem to hinder the play of the Healdsburg Prune Packers tonight as their offense strung together twelve runs on 15 hits on their way to an 12-5 win over the Solano Mudcats at Recreation Park. Eight of the nine hitters in the Healdsburg lineup tonight collected hits, five of which recorded multiple-hit games, and those same eight all scored runs, four of the them multiple times. John Lagattuta (Cal) hit a three-run home run and posted a game-high four RBI, Logan Douglas (Santa Rosa JC) singled and hit a solo home run, Jason Dicochea (Santa Clara) had three hits, including a triple, and Bryan Sturges (UTSA) had three hits and scored twice to lead the Packers attack. Solano got the early lead by scoring twice in the top of the first inning on an RBI-double by Jack Pridy (Sonoma St) and a run-scoring groundball, but that didn’t last long as Healdsburg scored twice in their half of the inning on an RBI-single by Sturges and an error. Douglas’ home run in the second inning gave just as brief a lead to Healdsburg as it was matched by a Solano solo home run hit in the third by Pridy and, then, when the Mudcats took a two-run lead by scoring a run in the fourth on a double by Wellington Balsley (Solano JC) and a run in the fifth on a run-scoring single by Christian Harkey (Savannah St), Healdsburg answered back again by scoring on a Blake McDonald RBI-single in the fifth and an error in the sixth to tie the score 5-5. Healdsburg erupted for four runs in the seventh inning when Bryson Hill (Houston) hit an RBI-single in front of Lagattuta’s home run, and three runs in the eighth on a wild pitch, an RBI-groundball and Lagattuta’s fourth RBI of the game put the game away. Jackson Cunningham (CSUN) pitched two scoreless innings after Healdsburg took the lead and Devin Kirby pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure the Packers victory.

Nickolas Pagan (Hartford) hit a three-run home run, Jamie Robertson (Emory) pitched four and two-thirds innings of stellar relief and David Reyna (Ark-Monticello) hit a three-run triple to lead the Arroyo Seco Saints to an 11-5 win over the Conejo Oaks tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Pagan’s home run, which followed an Andy Garriola (Old Dominion) RBI-single in the first inning, gave the Saints a seemingly comfortable early 4-0 lead, but it wouldn’t hold up. It wasn’t until Reyna’s triple in the eighth inning, which was followed by RBI-singles by Anthony Forte (Richmond) and Drew Cowley (Cal Poly Pomona), that the outcome of the game was decided. Conejo’s starting pitcher, Eric Ma (Whitman College), after allowing the four first inning runs, retired the side in order over the next two innings as the Oaks’ offense started scoring. Conejo generated two runs in the second inning on three hits, including a RBI-single by Zach Kaminkow (West Texas A&M), and a wild pitch, and three runs in a wild fourth inning in which three batters walked with the bases loaded and three batters struck out, two with the bases loaded, to take the lead 5-4. Chris Burnette (Cal Poly Pomona), who issued the last two walks and struck out the last two outs of the wild fourth inning for the Saints, recorded one out in the fifth but walked two more before Robertson entered the game and proceeded to dominate. Robertson retired 14 of the last 15 Oaks batters, three by strikeouts, to earn the win in relief for Arroyo Seco as he was on the mound when the Saints tied the game in the seventh inning when Forte doubled with one out and scored on a Thomas Luevano (USD) two-out single, and was the pitcher of record when the Saints took over the lead on Reyna’s home run.

Leading 5-2 heading into the ninth inning, the Academy Barons scored two insurance runs on two singles, a walk and an error, and needed both as the Arroyo Seco Saints rallied for four runs in their last at bat and left the tying run at third as the Barons held on to beat the Saints 7-6 tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Barons got a leadoff single from Basiel Williams Jr. (Jones JC) to start the ninth inning. Williams then stole second and third base and scored on an error, and, after a walk, Kyle Freeman (Pitzer College) hit an single to drive in what would prove to be the winning run. Up to this point in the game, the Academy relief pitchers had been nearly perfect as Travis Lavendier (Chico St) retired all four batters he faced in order, Noel Soto (Long Beach JC) pitched around a leadoff walk by retiring three straight, two by strikeout, and Trevor Sutt (Long Beach JC) retired the side in order in his one-inning appearance. But when the bottom of the ninth inning started the fourth Barons reliever, Elijah Pleasants, faced a fierce Saints rally sparked by an error that allowed the leadoff batter to reach. Nolan Tressler (Georgia Southern) hit an RBI-triple and scored on a balk, and Thomas McCarthy (USF) doubled before and out was recorded to get the Saints within two. Pleasants struck out the next two batters, to seemingly squelch the rally, before an RBI-single by Christian Scott (Tennessee), a walk and two passed balls put another run across and the tying run at third. Pleasants struck out his third batter of the inning, however, to close out the win for the Academy. Brandon Mitchell (New Orleans) started on the mound for the Barons, striking out four in four and two-thirds innings of work and allowing two runs on four hits before turning the pitching duties over to the bullpen. The Barons jumped out to an early lead in the game, scoring three times in their first at bat on doubles by Channy Ortiz (Grand Canyon) and Freeman and two singles and, after the Saints scored their two runs, added two more when Ortiz drove in a pair with his game-high third hit in the sixth. Drew Atherton (Cal Poly Pomona) started on the mound for Arroyo Seco and suffered the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out five in three and a third innings of work. Trevor Beer (UC Santa Barbara) also struck out five in his two-plus innings, but allowed two runs in relief of Atherton.

Jackson stranded five runners on base in his outing and retired eight batters in a row after allowing the first two hitters he faced to reach via a single and a walk. The only run he allowed came in the fifth inning when Ryan Cole (Notre Dame) , who would finish with a game-high three hits, hit a bunt single with two outs and scored on a Hunter Swift (Oral Roberts) double. Jackson stranded Swift by retiring the next batter and retired three straight in the fifth before turning the pitching over to the Foresters bullpen with a 2-1 lead. Santa Barbara scored both of their early runs off of Blues starting pitcher Jack Hodgins (Hendrix College) who suffered the loss, pitching four innings while striking out two. Ryan Cash (Oral Roberts) doubled to lead off the third inning and scored the first Foresters run on a Blake Hall (Oral Roberts) RBI-single, and Quentin Selma (Cal) singled to lead off the fourth and scored their second run when Holguin hit his two-out single. It was the first time the Oaks had trailed in the game, having posted a 2-0 lead when Nico Lima (Oxnard JC) hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, a 5-2 lead after Rock drove in a pair of runs for the Riptide in the fifth and the Oaks answered with three in the sixth on a bases-loaded two-run single by Jacob Castro (UC Irvine) and an RBI-single by Tyler Odekirk (Cal St LA), and 7-3 in the seventh when Justin Ammons (Tennessee) singled, advanced to third on a pair of singles and scored on a wild pitch after Faddoul hit an RBI-single for Orange County in the sixth. Wellington Balsley (Solano JC) and Nick Peifer (Cal Poly Pomona) each had three hits and three runs scored, and Nik Dodson struck out six batters in three innings of relief to lead the Solano Mudcats to a 13-7 win over the San Francisco Seals tonight at Alameda College. Balsley and Peifer’s stats lines highlighted the Mudcats 13-hit performance tonight, which was bolstered by ten walks issued by San Francisco’s pitchers. That combination made for a busy night on the bases for Solano as every batter in their lineup reached base safely, and all but one reached base safely multiple times. Seven of the nine hitters scored runs and a different seven of nine collected hits. In comparison, Edgar Aqui (Solano JC), who started on the mound for Solano and struck out four while allowing four runs on six hits over five innings, Ben Aguigui (Holy Names) who pitched one scoreless inning, and Dodson, combined, issued only two walks. Still the game was relatively close-fought as Solano did not pull away until scoring five unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and four to put the game away in the ninth. The Seals got two-hit performances from Tommy Cruz (Abilene Christian), Robert Lujan (Cal State East Bay) and Flynn Morrison (Redwoods JC).

Channy Ortiz (Grand Canyon) had three hits, including an RBI-double in the Academy Barons’ five run sixth inning that helped the Barons overcome a three run deficit and go on to beat the Conejo Oaks 9-5 today at the MLB Youth Academy. Ortiz’ double drove came with two outs in the sixth inning and drove in Trent Anderson from first base to cap a five run inning that gave the Barons the lead, 7-5, after trailing 5-2 through five. The five-run outburst was sparked by consecutive singles by Jair Donovan (Concordia) and Logan Pollack (Michigan) to lead off the inning and by Christian Lucio (Eastern Kentucky) who reached base on a dropped third strike. In turn, all three batters, once they reached first base, stole second, which generated runs for the Academy. First, Donovan scored on the passed ball that Lucio struck out on and, two outs later, Lucio scored on a wild pitch. The Barons also got a run on a sacrifice fly, a two-out RBI when Anderson singled and on Ortiz’ double. Three Acadmey relief pitchers took it from there. Larry Barabino III (Southern), who entered the game for the Barons in the top of the fifth inning in relief of David Appleby with one out and two runners on base, retired the first two batters he faced to end the Conejo rally in the fifth and went on to pitch two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Trevor Sutt (Long Beach JC) the pitched an inning and a third scoreless with two strikeouts and Elijah Pleasants, who relieved Sutt with two outs and two on in the eighth inning, got the last four outs to close out the Academy win. The Oaks scored first in the game on a solo home run by Ramon Gomez (Oklahoma Baptist) in the second inning and added two in the fourth when Steele Ledford (UC Santa Barbara) hit an RBI-triple and scored on a wild pitch. Travis Weston started on the mound for Conejo and cruised through the first three innings, facing a one-over-the-minimum twelve batters while striking out five, before surrendering two runs in the fourth inning on three singles and error. Weston, who received additional run support when the Oaks scored twice in the fifth inning on a hit batsman, two walks and an RBI-single by Nico Lima (Oxnard JC), pitched the bottom of the fifth scoreless and finished with eight strikeouts, leaving with the Oaks ahead 5-2. The Barons got two insurance runs in the seventh inning when Pollack led off with a single, stole second base and eventually scored on a wild pitch, and when Matthew Elizalde (Loyola) hit an RBI-single. Yuji Sakane (East LA JC) started on the mound for the Barons and allowed three runs on five hits in four innings of work.

Connor Pavolony (Tennessee) hit an RBI-double, Diego Harris hit a two-run triple and Eric Kennedy (Texas) added a run-scoring single to spark a four-run seventh inning that turned a close two-run ballgame into a rout as the Santa Barbara Foresters beat the Orange County Riptide 10-4 today at Pershing Park. Even though the Foresters led for most of the game, the Riptide kept things close. When Santa Barbara scored once in the first inning after Kennedy, who had three hits in the game, hit a leadoff single and later scored on a sacrifice fly, Orange County answered right back in the their next at bat when Andre Antone (UC Irvine) tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. Likewise, when the Foresters scored twice in the bottom of the second inning via a balk and another sacrifice fly, the Riptide answered next inning with a pair of their own, scoring twice on a Michael Peabody (UC Irvine) single. After the Foresters scored once in their half of the third inning on a bases loaded walk to take the lead for good, Santa Barbara’s starting pitcher Cole Quintanilla (Texas) put a halt to the back and forth scoring by retiring the side in order over the next two innings, compiling five strikeouts in his five innings of work. The Foresters added one run in the fifth inning when Tevin Tucker (West Virginia) hit an RBI-single, and added an unearned run in the eighth. Kevin Larson (Fresno St) pitched a scoreless and hitless sixth inning in relief of Quintanilla, Brad Demco pitched two scoreless and hitless innings, and Nico O’Donnell (Texas) retired three of four batters in the ninth, but did surrender a leadoff home run to Chad Crosbie (Miami) which completed the scoring. The Riptide utilized seven pitchers in today’s game, all of whom allowed at least one hit, and were highlighted by the three strikeouts posted by Nick Jones (Georgia Southern) in two innings of work.

Isaiah Verrett (UC Davis) had four hits, including a solo home run and a double, Wellington Balsley (Solano JC) hit a base loaded triple and an RBI-double, Christian Harkey (Savannah St) hit a pair of RBI-doubles and Josh Medina (Sonoma St) added a three-run double to lead the Solano Mudcats to a 20-9 rout of the San Francisco Seals today at Vanden High. Despite those performances, the game was not a blowout until late in the game. In fact, San Francisco, which split-squad two games today here and in Lincoln, led most of the game, scoring first to lead 1-0 after one, leading 3-2 after two, trailing 6-8 after the Mudcats had a six-run rally in the third, and leading 9-8 after four completed innings, a lead the Seals carried until the sixth when Solano tied the score. And then the Mudcats scored eleven times in the seventh to blow open the game. Diego Ramirez (Occidental), who pitched in relief of starter Caleb Hill (Savannah St), very much earned the win for Solano. Ramirez shut down the Seals for the last five and a third innings, entering the game to get the final out in the fourth inning after Shane Jones hit a three-run home run to chase Hill. At one point, Ramirez retired eleven batters in a row and finished with five strikeouts and three hits allowed in his five-plus shutout innings of work.

The San Francisco Seals scored three runs with two outs in the seventh inning after the third batter of the inning struck out with two outs but reached first base safely on a dropped third strike and sparked a rally that turned a one-run deficit into a two-run lead and the Seals went on to beat the Lincoln Potters 6-5 tonight at McBean Stadium. The two-out seventh inning rally, capped by an RBI-single by Cam Climo (UMass Lowell) and a two-run single by Marco Castillo (Claremont McKenna), flipped the lead the Potters had just taken in their previous at bat when back-to-back RBI-doubles by Daniel Susac and Lorenzo Debrecht (Sierra) put Solano up 4-3. Sam Gomez (Citrus JC), who entered the game to pitch for San Francisco in relief of starter McGrain Pledger to get the final out in the sixth inning after Debrecht’s double, made the lead stick despite allowing one run in the seventh on a Matt Lopez RBI-single and facing a runner on third with one out situation in the eighth, which he escaped by inducing a fielder’s choice groundball that erased the runner at the plate and a runner caught stealing erased the batter who had reached. San Francisco, which split-squad two games today here and in Fairfield, scored the first three runs of the game on three singles and a pair of Lincoln errors and led until Zach Arnold (Oregon) hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the third in for the Potters to make the score 3-2 Seals. Travis Parker (Utah Valley) started on the mound for Lincoln, pitching six innings with three strikeouts before turning the pitching duties over to Nathan Lemos (UC Davis), who pitched the three-run seventh, and Ian Miller (Yakima Valley JC), who retired six of the seven batters he faced, striking out three.

Michael Peabody (UC Irvine) singled, doubled and tripled and scored each time, Daniel Jung (Notre Dame) hit a two-run home run, and Carson Matthews (BYU) singled twice and scored twice to lead the Orange County Riptide to a 7-5 win over the Arroyo Seco Saints tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The trio of Riptide hitters accounted for all of the Riptide’s runs scored in tonight’s game and seven of the team’s hits. Jung started the offensive production for Orange County by singling to lead off the second inning and eventually scored with two outs on a wild pitch to give the Riptide a 1-0 lead. That lead didn’t last very long as the Saints rallied for four runs in their half of the inning after a single and two walks loaded the bases with two outs and David Reyna (Ark-Monticello) hit a grand slam to put Arroyo Seco ahead. Jung produced runs for the Riptide again in the third inning, hitting a two-run home run to drive in Peabody, who had doubled, to make the score 4-3. Ricky Reynoso (Pacific), who was the starting pitcher for Orange County, and Sean Higgins (Columbia), the first reliever in, held the Saints in check, retiring eight batters in a row after Christian Scott (Tennessee), who finished the game with three hits, tripled after Reyna’s slam and until the Riptide hitters took the lead in the fifth inning. Matthews started things for the Riptide in the fifth by leading off with a single, stealing second base and scoring to tie the game on Peabody’s RBI-single. Peabody then also stole second base, advanced to third on an overthrow and scored the go-ahead run on an run producing groundout. The Saints then tied the game again in their half of the ninth when Nolan Tressler (Georgia Southern) singled to lead off the inning and scored from first on an Andy Garriola (Old Dominion) double. Matthews and Peabody repeated their run production in the seventh inning when Matthews again led off with a single and stole second base. This time, however, Peabody tripled Matthews in with what would prove to be the winning run, then scored an insurance run himself when Jung drove him home with a sacrifice fly for Jung’s game-high third RBI. Andre Antone (UC Irvine), Cole Samuels (St Louis) and Wesley Scott (Vanderbilt) made that two-run lead stick by each retiring the side in order for one inning to close out the win for Michael Defelippi (Pacific) who relieved Higgins with one out in the fifth inning and was the pitcher of record when Peabody’s triple put the Riptide in front for good.

Four Santa Barbara pitchers combined to throw a three-hit, one-run game, Ross Cadena (Wichita State) hit a solo home run and Conor McKenna (Oklahoma) singled, stole third base and scored what proved to be the winning run on a wild pitch as the Santa Barbara Foresters did just enough to beat the Conejo Oaks 2-1 tonight at Pershing Park. The four pitchers for the Foresters were the decisive factor in the win tonight as the Santa Barbara offense, despite collecting ten hits and stealing seven bases, couldn’t get runners to score. Garrett Clarke (College of Southern Nevada) started on the mound for Santa Barbara and struck out three in five innings of work while allowing only two hits. Both hits Clarke allowed came in the second inning when Ryne Yamashiro (Cal Lutheran) doubled to lead off the inning and a one out single by Ramon Gomez (Oklahoma Baptist) put runners on the corners. Yamashiro scored on an RBI-groundout to give the Oaks a 1-0 lead but Clarke struck out the last batter of the inning to avoid further damage. The Foresters tied the game immediately thereafter when Cadena hit his home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning and Clarke and the Foresters relievers held Conejo in check until the offense could muster another run. Drake Greenwood (Rice) was the first Santa Barbara reliever in, retiring six of the seven batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings, and was the pitcher of record when the Foresters offense, having gotten runners in scoring in every inning, finally pushed one across in the bottom of the seventh when McKenna got his second hit of the game. Nico O’Donnell (Texas) pitched around a one-out single to pitch a scoreless eighth inning and Connor Woods (UNLV) retired the side in order in the ninth to close out the Santa Barbara win. Jacob Katzfey (Wichita State) had a pair of singles to join Cadena and McKenna as the only hitters with a multiple-hit game. Eric Ma (Whitman College) started on the mound for Conejo and pitched four and a third innings with a strikeout and one run allowed on six hits before turning the pitching duties over to Matthew Strother (UC Santa Barbara) and Carson Carter (Texas Tech) who allowed two hits each and one run which saddled Strother with the loss.

Sonny Brandwood and Peyton Baker (Alabama A&M) struck out five batters each, Cam Climo (UMass Lowell) hit a two-run home run, and Matt Mollahan (Chapman) drove in three runs on a pair of singles to lead the San Francisco Seals to a 9-5 win over the Lincoln Potters tonight at McBean Stadium. Brandwood started on the mound for the Seals and pitched five innings, recording one strikeout in each inning, and was given a comfortable lead before he even took the mound as Climo’s home run drove in Eric Callahan (Millersville), who had led off the game with a single, and a single and an error put a runner in scoring position for Mollahan to drive in his first run of the game and give Brandwood and the Seals a 3-0 lead. They would need those runs because the Potters answered right back in the bottom of the first inning by scoring two runs via a hit batsman, a single, an RBI-single by Jake Plecas (Utah Valley) and a passed ball made the score 3-2. Brandwood settled in and pitched around singles in the next three innings and two walks in the fifth inning to not allow another run, while the Seals offense rallied for two runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth. Joe Morin‘s double and a single by Drew Lowe (Oral Roberts) produced the two third inning runs, while a single, two hit batters, an error, a walk and Mollahan’s bases loaded single generated the four in the fourth before an out was recorded. Radd Thomas, who entered the game for Lincoln with the bases loaded and no outs in the fourth and surrendered Mollahan’s hit, retired the next three batters he faced by way of strikeouts to escape further damage, and then pitched three scoreless and hitless innings before turning the pitching duties over to Tyler Mead who finished with two scoreless innings himself. Baker, who relieved Brandwood to start the sixth inning, struck out the first batter he faced in the sixth and seventh innings, the first two batters of the ninth, but was tagged for three runs on three hits and two walks in the eighth to account for the final 9-5 score.

Devin Sutorius (Biola) pitched six and one-third innings of one-run baseball and Dylan Rock (UTSA) hit a two-run single and scored the third run to lead the Orange County Riptide to a 3-2 win over the Santa Barbara Foresters tonight at Great Park Stadium. Sutorius struck out six in his start and pitched with runners on base throughout, surrendering four of the six hits he allowed to the leadoff batter of an inning. In the first inning, he used a pair of strikeouts to neutralize the bunt single Eric Kennedy (Texas) used to lead off the game. In the second he induced a double play to erase the leadoff single by Jacob Katzfey (Wichita State) and, in the sixth inning, he used a strikeout and a flyball out to strand Kennedy at third who had hit a leadoff double. Only in the fourth inning was Sutorius scored upon when allowing a leadoff hitter to reach. This time, three Foresters hit consecutive singles to start the sixth, but Sutorius escaped with only one run allowed, via Katzfey’s RBI-hit, by two of the three runners being erased off the bases trying to steal. Sutorius struck out the first batter he faced in the seventh but, after he walked the next batter, he turned the pitching duties over to Andrew Beauvais (Pittsburgh) who stranded two runners to keep the inning scoreless, and then to Marrick Crouse who pitched around another leadoff single by Kennedy, his game-high third hit, in the eighth and around two errors in the ninth to close out the Riptide win. Jake Jackson (Nevada) started on the mound for Santa Barbara and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out five, and left the game leading 1-0. Orange County greeted the first Foresters reliever with three runs in the sixth inning on four singles, including Rock’s two-run hit and a two-out RBI-single by Chad Crosbie (Miami).

Gabe Baldovino (Ventura JC) hit a two-run triple, Niko Lima (Oxnard JC) had three hits, and Jacob Flores (San Diego St) retired the first nine hitters of the game in order to lead the Conejo Oaks to a 9-6 win over the Academy Barons tonight at the MLB Youth Academy. Leading 1-0 after Tyler Odekirk (Cal St LA) hit a two-out single and scored on Lima’s first hit in the third inning, the Oaks scored three times in the fourth when Steele Ledford (UC Santa Barbara) singled, Ramon Gomez (Oklahoma Baptist) doubled and Baldovino hit his triple and scored on a passed ball. Flores’ streak of consecutive batters retired ended in the fourth inning when the Barons walked three times and singled once to chase the Oaks starter with the bases loaded and one out but still leading 4-1. Logan Pollack (Michigan) drove in another run in the fourth inning and Basiel Williams Jr. (Jones JC) hit a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to tie the score 4-4. Both teams then went quietly in the sixth inning but in the seventh the Oaks scored two runs when Odekirk led off with a double, Lima got his second hit and Jacob Castro (UC Irvine) hit an RBI-single and the Barons scored once when Jaylen Heard (Heartland) doubled and scored later on a groundball out to make the score 6-5. Likewise, both teams were retired in order in the next inning and, in the ninth, the Oaks put the game away by scoring three runs on three singles and an error, while the Academy could only muster one run on a pair of doubles by Pollack and Matthew Elizalde (Loyola), who matched Lima with a game-high three hits.

Eli Riechmann struck out seven batters in four innings of relief pitching, Nickolas Pagan (Hartford) hit a bases loaded three-run double and Jacob Wyeth (Cisco JC) singled, doubled and scored twice to lead the Arroyo Seco Saints to a 6-3 win over the San Luis Obispo Blues tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Riechamann entered the game to start the fourth inning in relief of Saints starter Drew Atherton (Cal Poly Pomona), who allowed two hits in three scoreless innings while striking out two, and Riechmann used the strikeout to strand two runners in the fourth inning, two strikeouts to end the fifth, one strikeout to start the sixth and struck out the side in the seventh. The only blemish to Riechmann’s outing was the solo home run he surrendered to Duke Pahukoa (UNLV) in the sixth inning that tied the score 1-1. Having scored once in the fifth inning when Wyeth led off with a single and scored on an error, the Saints scored four times in the sixth when the first five batters of the inning recorded hits, including Wyeth’s RBI-single and Pagan’s bases-clearing double to make the score 5-1. San Luis added one run in the eighth inning on an RBI-single by Hunter Swift (Oral Roberts), which the Saints answered in their half of the inning on a run scoring single by Thomas Luevano (USD), and the Blues added one more in the ninth when Ryan Cole (Notre Dame) hit a leadoff single and scored on an RBI-groundout to post the final score. Pierson Ohl (Grand Canyon) started on the mound for the Blues, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing only one hit and striking out three, but did not figure in the decision. Mitchell Scott (Cal), who relieved Ohl to start the fourth inning, also struck out three in his two-inning stint. Michael Garza (Incarnate Word) pitched the final two innings for Arroyo Seco, striking out four while allowing two runs on four hits.

The Orange County Riptide scored four runs in their first at bat on a pair of two-run doubles by Andre Antone (UC Irvine) and Connor Aoki (Binghamton), Daniel Jung (Notre Dame) had four hits and Connor Aube (UT Arlington) scored three times to lead the Riptide to an 11-5 win over the Arroyo Seco Saints today at Great Park Stadium. Antone’s double, which came after Aube led off the inning with a single and two batters walked, and Aoki’s one out later, gave Orange County a lead they would not relinquish as five Orange County pitchers scattered seven Saints hits to allow only two earned runs while striking out a combined nine batters. After the Saints got on the board with a two-out, RBI-single by Thomas McCarthy (USF) in the second inning, the Riptide answered right back in their half when Aube doubled with one out, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI-groundout to make the score 5-1. Likewise, in the third inning, when Arroyo Seco scored a pair of runs on two errors and singles by Drew Cowley (Cal Poly Pomona) and Morgan Allen (St. Edward’s), Orange County answered with a pair of their own on two errors, Jung’s first hit of the game and an RBI-groundout. That pattern changed when the Riptide’s relivers corps entered the game. Justin Lewis (Texas Tech), who entered the game to pitch in the fourth inning in relief of Tanner King, pitched two scoreless innings, allowing only one baserunner; Andrew Beauvais (Pittsburgh) faced the minimum six batters, with the help of a runner caught stealing, in his two innings; and Colin Townsend (Saint Louis) pitched a scoreless eighth. Marrick Crouse, the fourth reliever of the game for the Riptide, allowed two runs, one earned, in the ninth inning when Nolan Tressler (Georgia Southern) and Luc Lipscius (Tennessee) singled and scored, but Crouse limited the damage by striking out two and closing out the win. On offense, Orange County added runs when Jung hit a ground-rule double in the fifth and scored on a Joshua Solomon (Columbia), when Carson Matthews (BYU) singled and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and when Matthews hit an RBI-double in the seventh.

Travis Parker (Utah Valley) struck out seven in a six-inning start, Zachary Patterson (Ohlone) reached base in all five of his plate appearances, scoring four times, and Andrew Buglino had two hits, including a two-run double, and a game-high three RBI to lead the Lincoln Potters to a 9-8 win over the Solano Mudcats today at Vanden High. Parker allowed only two hits in his outing, one a solo home run by Justin Banks (Coppin State), who also had three RBI in the game, to lead off the second inning, and closed out his stint by retiring the last eleven batters he faced in order, four via strikeout. The only blemish to Parker’s pitching performance was the lead off walk he issued to start the third inning, a runner that would eventually score on a Banks sacrifice fly. Patterson, who led all hitters with his three-hit day, started the scoring for Lincoln in the second inning when he led off with a double and scored the first of three runs when Nolan Young (Illinois St) drove him in with a single, and which Buglino followed with his double. With the score 3-1 heading into the third inning, Patterson singled home a run and Mattie Thomas (CSUN) hit an RBI-single to increase the lead. After Solano scored their two runs in the third, Patterson was hit by a pitch in consecutive at bats in the fifth and sixth inning and scored both times, first on an RBI-groundout by Buglino and, in the sixth, scoring from second on an error after stealing that base. Solano got to within striking distance in the seventh inning by scoring four times on an RBI-double by Eric Robles (Sterling College) and run scoring singles by Jack Pridy (Sonoma St) and Banks, but Tyler Mead held the Mudcats at bay for the next two innings, allowing one run in the ninth inning on an RBI-double by James Harwell (Sonoma St), and stranding the bases loaded to save the win for Lincoln.

Ben Martz (UC Santa Barbara) hit a pinch-hit run-scoring walk-off single with the bases loaded and no outs in the tenth inning as the Santa Barbara Foresters chased down an early 3-0 deficit to the Conejo Oaks to win 4-3. Martz’ dramatic hit came after the Foresters loaded the bases on a leadoff walk and two sacrifice bunts that turned into hits. The walk-off win was the culmination of a game-long effort to hold the Oaks at bay long enough for the Foresters offense. Conejo scored three times in their first two at bats, twice in the first inning on a two-out, two-un single by Ramon Gomez (Oklahoma Baptist), and once on a solo home run in the second by Trent MacKinney (Glendale CC). All three Conejo runs came off of Foresters starting pitcher Cole Quintanilla (Texas), who pitched around a leadoff single in the third inning to avoid any further damage and then turned the pitching duties over to the Santa Barbara bullpen. Five Santa Barbara relievers combined to hold the Oaks scoreless over the next seven innings, allowing only two hits and a total of five baserunners, two of which were erased on the bases, while striking out a combined 12 batters to totally shut down the Oaks offense. Travis Weston and Reece Matheisen (Glendale JC), the first two pitchers of the game for the Oaks, held the Foresters in check for most of their combined seven-inning, seven-strikeout performance. The only blemish to their outing was a two-out RBI-double by Tommy Holguin (SBCC) in the sixth inning which put Santa Barbara on the board, trailing 3-1. Ross Cadena (Wichita State) tied the game for the Foresters with a two-run home run in the eighth inning, and both teams managed to get a runner in scoring position in the ninth, but neither team scored, setting up the extra inning walk-off.

Anders Green drove in three runs on two doubles, Matt Lopez (Sierra JC) collected three hits and three RBI, Zachary Patterson (Ohlone) hit a two-run home run and Lorenzo Debrecht (Sierra JC) hit a two-out RBI-double to drive in what would prove to be the winning run in the eighth inning as the Lincoln Potters beat the Solano Mudcats 6-5 tonight at Vanden High. Green’s two doubles came in his first two at bats tonight and each came with two outs in the inning. In fact, all six of Lincolns runs scored with two outs. The first double by Green scored Lopez, who had doubled just before him in the first inning to give the Potters a 1-0 lead. His second double in the third inning scored two more when Larry Fonseca reached base after being hit by a pitch and Lopez singled. Then Patterson drove Green in with a home run to give Lincoln a 5-1 lead. Solano, which had scored once in the second inning on an Eric Robles (Sterling College) RBI-single, added a run in their half of the third when Angelo Zorn (Occidental) led off with a double and scored on two-out single by James Harwell (Sonoma St), and added another in the fourth inning, when Nik Dodson hit a solo home run to put the score at 5-3. Keith Walker (Yuba JC), who came in to pitch for Lincoln in the fifth inning in relief of starter Isaiah Rodriguez (William Jessup), pitched two scoreless innings to hold Solano in check before turning the pitching duties over to Ian Miller (Yakima Valley JC) and Luke Hargis (Grand Valley St) who each allowed one run but, because of Debrecht’s clutch hit in the eighth inning, were good enough to save the win for Lincoln. Brandon Chalk started on the mound for Solano, striking out five in five innings of work, but allowed five runs, all earned, on six hits and suffered the loss. Billy Babb (Sonoma St) struck out three in three innings of relief of Chalk, but was on the mound when Debrecht got his hit.

Reichmann, who entered the game in relief of Saints starter Colin King (Regis), struck out three batters to work around a walk in the fifth inning, pitched around a single in the sixth with one strikeout and pitched around a single and walk in the seventh with another strikeout. Likewise, Burnette used the strikeout to avoid giving up any runs, striking out two after allowing a walk in the eighth, and closing out the win with a strikeout in the ninth after allowing a two-out single. Cowley’s double drove in the first run of the game in the third inning and, after the Oaks took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Ryne Yamashiro (Cal Lutheran) hit a two-out two-run home run and the Saints tied it in the fifth on singles by Nickolas Pagan (Hartford) and David Reyna (Ark-Monticello), Cowley started things off again in the sixth. He and Tressler both singled to lead off the inning and both scored to give Arroyo Seco a 4-2 lead, Cowley scoring on an error and Tressler scoring on a groundout. Ian Villers (Cal)
struck out ten batters in a four-inning start, Chris Joaquim (UNLV) stuck out four in two innings, Griffin Hattingh struck out two in one inning of work, and Devin Kirby recorded all six outs in the two innings he worked via the strikeout to lead the Healdsburg Prune Packers to a 8-2 win over the San Francisco Seals tonight at Alameda College. It was a remarkable 22-strikeout performance for the Healdsburg pitchers who recorded only two outs on groundballs, one on a pop up to the infield, one on fly ball to the outfield and one on a runner caught stealing. The only blemish on the outing came in the seventh inning when Hattingh hit one batter and walked two to load the bases before allowing a Marty Cole (Niagara) two-out, two-run single. Hattingh struck out the last batter he faced to end the threat and then turned the pitching duties over to Kirby who pitched around a single in the eighth by striking out three, and working around a leadoff walk in the ninth by striking out the next three batters he faced. Villers and Jaoquim were equally as strikeout dominant in their outings tonight. At one point, Villers struck out six batters in a row, and had three strikeouts in three of his four innings. Joaquim faced the minimum six batters in his two inning relief of Villers and struck out the last four he faced. On offense, the Packers got on the board via a solo home run in the second inning by Bryson Hill (Houston), and then added two more runs in the fourth on RBI-singles by Hill and Travis Turney (Portland). Turney singled and scored in the seventh inning, Cole Brodnansky (UConn) doubled and scored in the eighth, and the Packers put the game away in the ninth, scoring four runs on four hit batsmen, a walk and Bryan Sturges’ (UTSA) fourth single of the game to post the final 8-2 margin. Duke Pahukoa (UNLV) hit a three-run home run and an RBI-single, and Nick Hansen (Grand Canyon) singled three times and drove in two to lead a 16-hit attack as the San Luis Obispo Blues beat the Orange County Riptide 13-2 tonight at Great Park Stadium. Pahukoa’s home run highlighted a four-run first inning for the San Luis offense that put runners on base in all but one inning of tonight’s game and scored in all but two. Twelve Blues’ hitters recorded hits in the game, led by Hansen’s game-high three, and, after posting single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings, San Luis won going away scoring three times each in the eighth and ninth. Taison Corio (Delta JC), who doubled and hit an RBI-single in two plate appearances, joined Pahukoa and Hansen as Blues hitters with a multiple-hit game. Dylan Beavers (Cal) started on the mound for San Luis, allowing one run via a Daniel Jung (Notre Dame) run scoring single in the first inning, before handing the pitching duties over to Noah Huerta (Texas Tech) who earned the win by throwing three innings of shutout ball. Logan Douglas (Santa Rosa JC) had for hits and four RBI, Bryan Sturges (UTSA) drove in four runs on three hits, Joe Lampe added three hits, including a two-run home run, and Kevin Sandri scored four times in four consecutive innings as the Healdsburg Prune Packers slugged their way past some sloppy pitching to beat the Lincoln Potters 16-14 tonight at McBean Stadium. The Packers offense amassed 18 hits in the game, led by Douglas, Lampe and Sturges’ multi-hit performances, and Healdsburg needed every one of those hits as the Potters took advantage of 14 walks issued by Packers pitchers to generate their 14 runs while totaling only eight hits. Five of the Lincoln hits came in their first at bat, including a two-run double by Nolan Young (Illinois St) and a two-run single by Daniel Susac, that, paired with five walks issued by Healdsburg starting pitcher Spencer Hynes (Houston), gave the Potters an 8-0 lead. But after Lincoln added another run in the second inning, Healdsburg started their long march to victory in the third when Sturges hit a two-run double. Lampe’s home run and a Sturges RBI-single drove three in the fourth inning, Sturges and Douglas added two-out RBI-singles to plate four more in the fifth, and RBI doubles by Blake McDonald (Santa Rosa JC) and Sandri, and another two-out run scoring single by Douglas in the sixth put Healdsburg up 13-9. But that still wasn’t enough as Lincoln again was given a load of free passes, scoring once in the bottom of the sixth inning on three walks and a sacrifice fly, and four times in the seventh on three more walks, a hit batsman, another sacrifice fly and an RBI-double by Anders Green to retake the lead 14-13. The Packers answered in their next at bat, however, scoring three two-out runs on Douglas’ third consecutive two-out RBI-single followed by a run scoring single by Travis Turney (Portland) and an RBI-double by Jason Moran (Santa Rosa JC) to post the final 16-14 score. All of Healdsburg’s pitching performances were not without merit as Andrew Hanson (St. Mary’s) pitched four innings of one-run ball, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out two, and Morgan White (Portand) struck out three while recording the final nine outs to secure the Healdsburg win. Young and Matt Lopez, who had two singles and a pair of sacrifice flies, each drove in three runs to lead the Lincoln offense.
