Also today in CCL action: La Mirada, CA Twenty-four hours after totaling 11 runs and 17 hits the Academy Barons offense kept on rolling today in a 10-2 win over the Southern California Catch at Biola University. The Barons had 11 hits in the win, highlighted by home runs by 2015 CCL home run leader Aaron Cisneros (UC Riveride), his second this summer, and Trent Hammond (Illinois) who hit his first. Cisneros, who also had a double in the game, tallied three RBI with his homer in the eighth, and Martin Teague (Hope Int) also had three RBI. Sebastian Sanchez pitched five innings and had five strikeouts to pick up the win, and Travis Bonner had another five strikeouts in three innings of relief. See the boxscore/recap here. Santa Barbara, CA After a rocky first week of the CCL season the Santa Barbara Foresters have seemingly righted the ship, winning their fifth straight league contest today 5-2 over the Menlo Park Legends and vaulting to the top of the CCL standings with a 6-4 record. (*The Foresters and Conejo Oaks are tied atop the CCL standings with 6-4 records. The Oaks stats have not caught up to their official results as of yet so the standings do not reflect this 6-4 tie). Hunter Williams (Tulane) led the Foresters offense today with three hits and two RBI. See the boxscore/recap here. San Luis Obispo, CA The last CCL game of the night turned out to be the most dramatic as the Ventura Halos won a seesaw battle with the San Luis Obispo Blues 5-4 in eleven innings. Kaleb Murphy (USC) had the go-ahead hit, an RBI double, in the top of the 11th, and Danny Thomas (Cal St Monterey Bay) came into the game and retired the last three Blues hitters, two via the strikeout, to pick up the save. Nic Bereaud hit a two-run home run in the second inning, and he and three other Halo batters had multiple-hit games as Ventura outhit the Blues 14 to three. See the boxscore/recap here.
