June 24, 2016 Redwood City, CA Tyler Ivey (Grayson CC) and Alexander Hernandez (Fordham) combined for a three-hit shutout on the mound today for the Menlo Park Legends in their 9-0 win over the Long Beach Legends. Ivey started the game, his first outing of the summer, and allowed only one hit in six innings while striking out seven. Hernandez pitched the last three innings with similar success, allowing two hits while striking out four. Clayton Casey (Houston) had four hits in five at bats, and Patrick McColl (Harvard) had three hits and three RBI to lead the Menlo Park offense. See the boxscore/recap here. Also today in the CCL: Santa Barbara, CA Reagan Todd (ASU) had nine strikeouts in six scoreless innings as the Santa Barbara Foresters beat the Walnut Creek Crawdads today at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium 4-2. Todd left the game with the Foresters holding a slight 1-0 lead but before a new pitcher would take the mound for Santa Barbara Hunter Williams (Tulane) would hit his fourth home run of the summer and Hank LoForte (Cal St Fullerton) would follow that with a run-scoring single and the Foresters would be up 4-0. A two-run triple by Wade Gulden (Utah) would cut the lead in half for the Crawdads in the eighth but that was as close as they got. See the boxscore/recap here. Ventura, CA Gabe Gunter (Cal Lutheran) and Chad Bible (San Diego St) each had home runs today in the Conejo Oaks 6-4 win over the Ventura Halos at Ventura College. Bible's home run got the scoring going for the Oaks and came with two out and one on in the first inning that put the Oaks up 2-0. Gunter's blast came in the fourth inning with two runners on and made the score 6-1 Oaks. The Halos cut the score in the eighth inning, scoring three times on three bases-loaded walks, but 6-4 was as close as they would get. See the boxscore/recap here.
