June 9, 2016 Compton, CA The Orange County Riptide offense exploded tonight at the MLB Urban Youth Academy amassing 15 runs on 21 hits as the Riptide beat the Academy Barons 15-7 in CCL action. Dillon Kelley (Chico State) led the Riptide with a perfect six hits in six at bats, including a home run and three RBI. Ray Land (Concordia) also had a big night, collecting four RBI on three hits. Aaron Cisneros (UC Riverside) had 3 RBI for the Barons. See the boxscore/recap here. Also today: Santa Barbara, CA The Healdsburg Prune Packers took the third and deciding game of their series against the Santa Barbara Foresters, winning 8-7 at Westmont College. Jake Steiner (Santa Rosa JC) and Dan James (USF) each hit home runs for the Pakcers, with James's coming with two-out and nobody on in the ninth inning, which proved to be the winning margin. The Foresters threatened in the bottom of the ninth, putting the tying and winning run in scoring position with one out, but Packers reliever Anthony Bender (Northridge) got a strikeout and a ground out to save the win. Bret Boswell (Texas) homered for the Foresters for the second game in a row and teammate Trevor Abrams (Sonoma State) had four hits. See the boxscore/recap here.
