Dustin Krob (Dayton) drove in
Mitch Kerner (Emory) with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Arroyo Seco Saints a 8-7 victory over the Long Beach Legends tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Kerner, who had two hits in the game, including a two-run single in the Saints four-run first inning, reached base to open the ninth on a walk and advanced to third on a throwing error before Krob's fly ball drove him in with the game winner. Despite falling behind early, Long Beach battled back to take a 7-5 lead in the seventh inning on a two-out, two-run double by
Ryan Davis (Georgetown). The Saints tied the game in the eighth, however, on a pair of RBI-singles by
Spencer Mossburg (Lee) and
Derek Gibree (Saint Leo).
Josh Little (NC Central) then struck out the side in the top of the ninth to set up the walk-off. Gibree finished with a game-high three RBI to lead the Saints.
Grant Gamble (Azusa Pacific) and
Michael Stefanic (Westmont) each had three hits, one of Gamble's being a two-out, two-run triple in the second inning, to lead Long Beach.
