Logan Finley (Benedictine)
hit a three-run home run and Grant St. Martin (Sonoma St) and William Homza (Brown) hit two-run shots in the fifth inning to lead the Rockville Rock Hounds to a 21-7 victory over the Auburn Wildcats today at Yarbrough Stadium. Rockville hitters amassed 20 hits in the game, adding five doubles to go with the home runs, and were aided by nine walks allowed by Auburn’s pitchers. Finley and Jack Pridy finished with a game-high 4 RBI, while Kenny LeBeau (Nevada Reno) collected 3 RBI in two plate appearances, an two-run double in the second inning and an RBI-single in the third. Kyle Krebs (Solano CC) picked up the win in relief, pitching three scoreless innings of one-hit ball in relief of starter Rylan Haney. Sam Curtis (William Jessup) was 3-for-6 in the game, including a double, and Anthony DeSantis (Kansas) had five strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings of relief to highlight the Wildcats’ performance.

June 13, 2017 – Thousand Oaks, CA
The Orange County Riptide scored 11 times in the last two innings to beat the Conejo Oaks 15-7 today at Sparky Anderson Field. Will Proctor (Georgia), David Miranda (Florida Atlantic) and Eric Wagaman (Houston), the numbers two, three and four in the Orange County lineup, combined for 11-RBI on seven hits, each of them doubling and Wagaman adding a two-run home run to cap the scoring in the ninth. Cooper Uhl (LMU), hitting seventh in the lineup, added three hits and scored four times, and Beau Philip (San Joaquin JC), hitting eighth, scored three times on two hits to add to the Riptide 15-hit onslaught. Max Weinstein (Cal Lutheran) doubled and singled, and Frankie Tostado (Oxnard JC) tripled and singled to lead the Oaks offense.

Compton, CA
Tommy Anderson (Doan) drove in Michael Stefanic (Westmont) with the game winning run in the top of the 11th inning as the Long Beach Legends beat the Academy Barons 6-5 today at the MLB Urban Youth Academy. It was the second hit in as many plate appearances for Anderson, who was inserted into the lineup late in the game, and he, Stefanic, Reese Berberet (Long Beach CC) and Stephen Corona each finished with multiple-hit games, one of Corona’s being a solo home run to lead off the third inning, to lead the Legends attack. Long Beach’s starting pitcher Jacob Alcorn recorded six strikeouts with no walks in five-plus innings of work, but the win went to Corey Treyes (Coppin St) who pitched a scoreless bottom of the 11th. Randy Rubio (Marymount), Eric Whitfield and Evan Mason (Chico St), the bottom third of the Barons’ lineup, each had three hits to lead the Academy.

Pasadena, CA
Three Arroyo Seco Saints pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts, and a six-run fourth inning provided more than enough offense, as the Saints beat the Ventura Halos 10-5 today at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Arroyo Seco starting pitcher Dellan Raish (ASU) had five strikeouts but lasted only two innings, giving up four runs, before turing the ball over to Gunnar Friend (Avila), who posted four strikeouts in three innings to earn the win, and Zackarie Phillips (Grayson JC), who had six strikeouts over the last four innings to pick up the save. Brett Adams had the biggest hit for the Saints, a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning, and Blake Burton (Washington) hit a solo home run in the fifth. Dayton Provost (Canyons JC) doubled in the first inning and doubled again in the second with the bases loaded to plate three runs, and Christian Jones (Washington) hit a solo home run in the fifth to lead the Halos.

Ty Wiest (Columbia)
recorded nine strikeouts in five innings of one-hit, one-run ball to lead the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 9-5 victory over the Southern California Catch today at Biola University. Catch starting pitcher Zac Whittaker (Fresno CC) recorded six strikeouts of his own in five innings, but was done in by a two-out RBI double by Evan Lee (Arkansas) followed by a two-run home run by Brody Weiss (Westmont) in the second inning. Lee finished the game with three hits (two doubles and a single), Weiss with 3 RBI, and Luke Ritter (Wichita St) hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to lead the Foresters offense. Anthony Seminaris (Arkansas-Ft. Smith) had two hits, one a solo home run in the sixth inning, and Mitchell Bumann (Hawaii Pacific) had two hits to lead the Catch.

June 12, 2017 – Fairfield, CA
Tyler Friis (Indiana State) blasted a three-run homerun before an out was recorded in today’s game at Rockville, hit a two-run triple in the eighth, Ryder Kuhns hit three doubles and had 4-RBI, and Reyes Fuentes (Houston) had 4-RBI on a double and two singles as the Healdsburg Prune Packers outslugged the Rock Hounds en route to a 16-12 win today at Yarbrough Stadium. Each team amassed 16 hits on the game and, when they scored runs, they scored them in bunches. Healdsburg had innings of five, four and three runs twice, while Rockville scored four times twice and two runs once. The offensive output of today’s game may become a pattern for these two teams, last week Healdsburg scored 17 runs to Rockville’s nine before the game had to be suspended due to darkness. The suspended game was completed before today’s game with no change to the final score.
For Rockville, Vincenzo Margiotta had a double, three singles, two RBI and scored twice, Evan Faccenda (Clarke) had a double and two singles, Max Smith (UNLV) homered and doubled, and Grant St. Martin (Sonoma State) hit a two-run homer to lead the offense.

June 11, 2017 – Irvine, CA
Frankie Tostado (Oxnard JC) hit a three-run home run with two outs in the sixth inning to break what was a 2-2 tie and propel the Conejo Oaks to a 5-3 win over the Orange County Riptide today at Concordia University. Tostado’s homer, his second of the summer, followed singles by DJ Miller (Ole Miss) and Jassen Oliver (Cal St Bakersfield) as the Oaks improved to 4-1 in the league play. Cody Farhat stepping in to relieve starter Nate Wehner (Cal Lutheran) with one out in the fifth, was the beneficiary of the three-run sixth, picking up the win while recording three strikeouts in an inning and two-thirds work. Oliver and Max Weinstein (Cal Lutheran) had two hits a piece to also post good games for the Oaks. For Orange County, Joey Parente and David Miranda (Florida Atlantic) each had two hits, and Eric Wagaman (Houston) had a pair of run-scoring fly balls to highlight the offense.

Grant Gamble (Azusa Pacific) hit a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning to break the game open as the Long Beach Legends beat the Ventura Halos 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader today at Long Beach City College. Ryan Davis (Georgetown) added three hits and pitcher Jason McLellan (Concordia) recorded five strikeouts in two innings of relief to highlight the Legends performance. Chris May had two hits and Dalton Duarte (Cal St Dominguez Hills) had a double and a single to lead the Halos.
In the second game, starting pitcher Josh Aguilar notched seven strikeouts in four innings of work, and Lucas Martinez (Cal St San Bernardino) hit a two-run single (the last of four singles in a row by Legends hitters) in a four-run second inning to lead Long Beach to a 6-4 win and a sweep of the doubleheader. Martinez, Corey Treyes (Coppin St) and Connor Montgomery all had two-hit games for Long Beach, while Michael Tillman hit a single, a run-scoring double and a run-scoring fly ball to lead Ventura’s offense.

Healdsburg, CA
Brennan Mauchline (Academy of Art) drove in three runs on a pair of singles, Spencer Lininger (Feather River) had three hits, and Ben Skinner (Harvard) singled twice and scored three times to lead the Walnut Creek Crawdads to their first CCL win of the season, beating the previously undefeated Healdsburg Prune Packers 9-4 at Recreation Park. Jake Scheiner (Houston) had an RBI-single, a double and a run-scoring fly ball to lead Healdsburg.

June 10, 2017 – Irvine, CA
Christopher May hit a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double to highlight a five-run second inning. and later added a triple in the sixth, as the Ventura Halos beat the Orange County Riptide 8-5 today at Concordia University. The win is the Halos fourth in five CCL contests so far this season, their best start since joining the league in 2013, putting them on top of the CCL’s tough Central Division. Brain Ginsberg (Brown) had two RBI, and Dalton Duarte (Cal St. Dominguez Hills) added a single and a double to also lead the Halo’s offense. Ventura’s starting pitcher Dylan Francis (Cal Poly Pomona) did just enough to keep Orange County at bay, scattering seven hits over six innings while striking out four and only walking one. Will Proctor (Georgia) and David Miranda (Florida Atlantic) each had two hits, one of Proctor’s a triple, to lead the Riptide offense, and Will Tomlinson (Brown) had five strikeouts in four innings of relief, to highlight the Orange County Pitching.

June 8, 2017 – Oakland, CA
Casey Douglas (Kansas) and Justin Smith (Yuba College) used the strikeout to keep the opposing hitters at bay, and Jordan Williams (Diablo Valley JC) and Matthew Miller (Georgia College) led the offense as the Neptune Beach Pearl beat the Walnut Creek Crawdads 5-4 today at Laney College. While not completely dominating from the mound by allowing 10 Crawdad hits, Douglas and Smith combined for ten strikeouts in the game when they needed them, including Douglas striking out the side in the second inning and Smith fanning two in each of his three innings of relief. On the offensive side, Tim Lichty (Texas A&M) and Miller each doubled and singled, with William’s one out double in the seventh to drive in Miller, who had doubled earlier in the inning, being the game winner. John Ballard (Colorado Mesa) led all hitters with three hits, including one of the Crawdads four doubles in the game, to lead Walnut Creek.

June 7, 2016 – Pasadena, CA
Gunnar Friend (Avila University) threw six shutout innings, allowing only two singles while striking out eight to lead the Arroyo Seco Saints to a 2-0 win over the Orange County Riptide at Jackie Robinson Stadium. It was the first win in the CCL for the Saints, who joined the league this offseason. Friend had plenty of support from the bullpen as Gabe Golob (NYU), Josh Little (NC Central) and Zack Phillips (Grayson) each pitched an inning of scoreless ball to secure the shutout, Phillips striking out the side in the ninth to earn the save. Spencer Mossburg (Lee University) and Corey Harrell (Graceland) hit back-to-back doubles to score a run for the Saints in the first inning, and Mossburg drove in the game’s only other run with his second double in the fifth.

June 6, 2017 – La Mirada, CA
The Southern California Catch capitalized on nearly every scoring opportunity as they scored eight runs on only seven hits to beat the Santa Barbara Foresters 8-4 today at Biola University. The Catch did most of their damage in the their first at bat, batting around in the frame while scoring five runs on five hits, all singles. Starting pitcher Chris Vargas (UC Irvine) held the Foresters scoreless for three innings, striking out three, before allowing two runs on a single and two doubles in the fourth, one to John Jensen (Santa Barbara CC), who would add a solo home run in the eighth. Jensen finished the game with three RBI to lead Santa Barbara, while the Catch were led by Grant Robbins (UNLV), two hits, and Anthony Seminaris (Arkansas-Ft. Smith), two RBI.

June 1, 2017 – Auburn, CA
The Auburn Wildcats debut in the California Collegiate League was a bit of a hit parade as the Wildcats beat the visiting Walnut Creek Crawdads 15-7 in the season opener. Every Auburn hitter in the lineup recorded at least one hit tonight, led by Sam Curtis (William Jessup), two doubles and five RBI, and Kale Leach’s (Folsom Lake College), two-run home run. On the mound, Dominick Golubiewski (Dayton) recorded eight strikeouts over five and a third innings to pick up the win. Walnut Creek hitters scored seven times on only five hits, all singles, and were helped by receiving nine walks by Wildcat pitchers. Thomas Caufield (USF) started on the mound for the Crawdads and recorded the loss.
