June 7, 2019 Fairfield, CA Anders Green drove in three runs on two doubles, Matt Lopez (Sierra JC) collected three hits and three RBI, Zachary Patterson (Ohlone) hit a two-run home run and Lorenzo Debrecht (Sierra JC) hit a two-out RBI-double to drive in what would prove to be the winning run in the eighth inning as the Lincoln Potters beat the Solano Mudcats 6-5 tonight at Vanden High. Green's two doubles came in his first two at bats tonight and each came with two outs in the inning. In fact, all six of Lincolns runs scored with two outs. The first double by Green scored Lopez, who had doubled just before him in the first inning to give the Potters a 1-0 lead. His second double in the third inning scored two more when Larry Fonseca reached base after being hit by a pitch and Lopez singled. Then Patterson drove Green in with a home run to give Lincoln a 5-1 lead. Solano, which had scored once in the second inning on an Eric Robles (Sterling College) RBI-single, added a run in their half of the third when Angelo Zorn (Occidental) led off with a double and scored on two-out single by James Harwell (Sonoma St), and added another in the fourth inning, when Nik Dodson hit a solo home run to put the score at 5-3. Keith Walker (Yuba JC), who came in to pitch for Lincoln in the fifth inning in relief of starter Isaiah Rodriguez (William Jessup), pitched two scoreless innings to hold Solano in check before turning the pitching duties over to Ian Miller (Yakima Valley JC) and Luke Hargis (Grand Valley St) who each allowed one run but, because of Debrecht's clutch hit in the eighth inning, were good enough to save the win for Lincoln. Brandon Chalk started on the mound for Solano, striking out five in five innings of work, but allowed five runs, all earned, on six hits and suffered the loss. Billy Babb (Sonoma St) struck out three in three innings of relief of Chalk, but was on the mound when Debrecht got his hit. Click here for recaps of this game Elsewhere around the CCL tonight: Pasadena, CA Eli Riechmann (Blinn) and Chris Burnette (Cal Poly Pomona) combined for eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings of relief pitching, Drew Cowley (Cal Poly Pomona) hit an RBI-double, a single and scored twice, and Nolan Tressler (Georgia Southern) doubled and singled twice to lead the Arroyo Seco Saints to a 5-2 win over the Conejo Oaks tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Reichmann, who entered the game in relief of Saints starter Colin King (Regis), struck out three batters to work around a walk in the fifth inning, pitched around a single in the sixth with one strikeout and pitched around a single and walk in the seventh with another strikeout. Likewise, Burnette used the strikeout to avoid giving up any runs, striking out two after allowing a walk in the eighth, and closing out the win with a strikeout in the ninth after allowing a two-out single. Cowley's double drove in the first run of the game in the third inning and, after the Oaks took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Ryne Yamashiro (Cal Lutheran) hit a two-out two-run home run and the Saints tied it in the fifth on singles by Nickolas Pagan (Hartford) and David Reyna (Ark-Monticello), Cowley started things off again in the sixth. He and Tressler both singled to lead off the inning and both scored to give Arroyo Seco a 4-2 lead, Cowley scoring on an error and Tressler scoring on a groundout. Cowley got on base via a walk to lead off the eighth inning and eventually scored on another Oaks error to post the final 5-2 score. Click here for recaps of this game Alameda, CA Ian Villers (Cal) struck out ten batters in a four-inning start, Chris Joaquim (UNLV) stuck out four in two innings, Griffin Hattingh struck out two in one inning of work, and Devin Kirby recorded all six outs in the two innings he worked via the strikeout to lead the Healdsburg Prune Packers to a 8-2 win over the San Francisco Seals tonight at Alameda College. It was a remarkable 22-strikeout performance for the Healdsburg pitchers who recorded only two outs on groundballs, one on a pop up to the infield, one on fly ball to the outfield and one on a runner caught stealing. The only blemish on the outing came in the seventh inning when Hattingh hit one batter and walked two to load the bases before allowing a Marty Cole (Niagara) two-out, two-run single. Hattingh struck out the last batter he faced to end the threat and then turned the pitching duties over to Kirby who pitched around a single in the eighth by striking out three, and working around a leadoff walk in the ninth by striking out the next three batters he faced. Villers and Jaoquim were equally as strikeout dominant in their outings tonight. At one point, Villers struck out six batters in a row, and had three strikeouts in three of his four innings. Joaquim faced the minimum six batters in his two inning relief of Villers and struck out the last four he faced. On offense, the Packers got on the board via a solo home run in the second inning by Bryson Hill (Houston), and then added two more runs in the fourth on RBI-singles by Hill and Travis Turney (Portland). Turney singled and scored in the seventh inning, Cole Brodnansky (UConn) doubled and scored in the eighth, and the Packers put the game away in the ninth, scoring four runs on four hit batsmen, a walk and Bryan Sturges' (UTSA) fourth single of the game to post the final 8-2 margin. Will Moscato (Macalester) started on the mound for the Seals and notched an impressive eight strikeouts in six innings, but allowed three runs on six hits to suffer the loss.
