June 12, 2016 Ventura, CA The Ventura Halos scored three runs in their last two at bats today to beat the San Luis Obispo Blues 5-4 in a CCL matchup at Ventura College. Ben Skinner (Harvard) drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with a two out double in the eighth. Also for the Halos, Nic Bereaud hit a run-scoring triple in the second and Cody Phillips (Princeton) had three hits. See the boxscore/recap here. Also today: Thousand Oaks, CA The Santa Barbara Foresters scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning and held off the Conejo Oaks for the last three outs to avoid their fourth straight league loss with a 6-5 win today at Sparky Anderson Field. Colby Barrick (UCSB) drove in the tying run in the ninth and then scored the game winner on a single by Bret Boswell (Texas). Boswell drove in two runs on the day and had three hits, and Trevor Abrams (Sonoma State) also had two RBI, one coming on his first home run of the season. See the boxscore/recap here. Irvine, CA Playing their fifth game in three days the Southern California Catch showed no signs of weakness as they swept a CCL doubleheader on the road today at Concordia University, beating the Orange County Riptide 6-3 and 6-2. Nate Pecoda (William Jewel) hit a two-out two-run single in the sixth inning to lead the Catch in the first game, and Josh Rojas (Hawaii) and Zach Malis (Grand Canyon) each had two RBI to lead the Catch in the second game.
